Well, she is at one of the most extreme environmentally liberal colleges in the U.S. after all. That’s not a problem Dragon son-in-law there are lots of great people in out family but you’re special you volunteered vintage shirt. Her having to keep her mouth shut sometimes is. It was during high school that I convinced her to do her own research to find out the truth instead of simply accepting whatever politically slanted garbage her teachers threw at the students. It has served her well, she’s graduating with political science, music, and pre-law degrees. Nice combination. She originally went down there for marine biology but didn’t enjoy it as much as she originally thought she would. Whether or not you are a Republican, Democrat, Independent, Alien whatever, if you want your child to have an unbiased view of the world around them the best thing to do is to teach them how to research and collect all the facts before making a decision one way or another (especially when politics are concerned).
Most of the Communists I met were fine people with laudable goals they sincerely strove to reach. The Polish Communists, as far as I could tell, did provide all that, but in doing so, everyone was dragged down to what best can be called a lower-middle-class level with substandard housing, a workforce peppered with those guaranteed jobs who chose not to work hard or work at all, a corrupt bureaucracy rife with nepotism, etc. I concluded from talking with these managers that the system went broke because its focus overlooked and occasionally even denigrated the needs of the economic engine that was to provide this largesse. In the process of re-examining my beliefs, I didn’t give up my utopian goals. Instead, I looked at them analytically and concluded that I wasn’t being practical. That’s when I began shifting to a more conservative view. I no longer vote for only one party’s candidates. I realize that most of us are more comfortable with an unshakable set of beliefs. I no longer am and rather than feel orphaned I feel liberated. Rightly or wrongly, I’ve developed a skepticism for all ideologies and dogmatism, all because of my singular experience in Poland.
